Frequently asked questions

The most searched questions in Mexico about our laser treatments, answered on the basis of medical guidelines and published studies.

In short

At Clínica Obesidad y Envejecimiento in Mexico City, every treatment starts with a medical assessment. Here we answer the most searched questions about endovenous laser, biopolymers, breast lift, laser lipolysis and megalipolysis, and facial rejuvenation. We do not publish prices because each plan depends on the case; costs are explained during the assessment.

Varicose veins

Endovenous laser

What is endovenous laser?

A minimally invasive treatment that closes the diseased saphenous vein from the inside with an ultrasound-guided laser fiber under local anesthesia. NICE and ESVS guidelines rank it as the first choice when the patient is a candidate. More in the complete guide.

Endovenous laser or radiofrequency?

Both are thermal ablations and guidelines consider them first choice. A Mexican study of 80 patients found no significant differences between them at 7 and 30 days. The specialist chooses based on the Doppler ultrasound.

Laser or sclerotherapy for varicose veins?

The NICE guideline recommends thermal ablation (laser or radiofrequency) first and keeps ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy as an alternative when ablation is not suitable. Spider veins are treated with other techniques.

What are the contraindications of laser for varicose veins?

Active deep vein thrombosis, pregnancy, significant arterial disease in the legs and very tortuous or unsuitable veins require special assessment. See when to treat varicose veins.

How much does endovenous laser cost in Mexico?

It depends on the number of veins and what the Doppler ultrasound shows, so the cost is defined in the assessment. Book on WhatsApp to receive a personalized plan.

Biopolymers

Biopolymers and their removal

What are biopolymers?

Unauthorized filler substances (liquid silicone, oils, paraffin, polyacrylamide) injected to add volume. COFEPRIS considers them a high health risk. See symptoms of filler substance disease.

How is biopolymer removal from the buttocks done?

It starts with an assessment and MRI to locate the material; medical management of inflammation is then combined with removal in localized areas, supported by laser technology. Removing 100% is not always possible.

Can biopolymers be removed from the lips or face?

It is assessed case by case: the face is one of the areas where these substances are most often injected, and the plan depends on the imaging results.

How long is recovery after biopolymer removal?

It depends on the area and amount of material. In a series of 35 patients who had gluteal surgery, the most frequent complication was seroma, resolved with drainage. See recovery after removal.

Breast

Breast lift

Breast lift with or without implants?

A lift corrects sagging and an implant adds volume. In a study of 149 patients by Mexico City surgeons, a lift alone had the highest satisfaction. See the comparison.

Can the bust be lifted without surgery?

Breast sagging depends on the skin and internal support, so exercise, creams or garments do not correct it. When sagging is real, the medical option is a breast lift.

Which breast lift technique do I need?

It depends on the degree of sagging, measured with the Regnault classification by nipple position. Mild sagging allows shorter scars; greater sagging needs more repositioning.

When should I have surgery after pregnancy?

It is best to finish breastfeeding, wait a few months and reach a stable weight. See breasts after pregnancy.

Body contouring

Laser lipolysis and megalipolysis

Is laser lipolysis dangerous?

It is a surgical procedure with uncommon risks. In a series of 1,000 cases there were 3 burns, 2 infections, 1 hematoma and 1 seroma, with no major complications. The laser-specific risk is a burn if energy is not controlled.

Laser lipolysis or liposuction?

According to a 2025 review, laser assistance causes less bruising and pain and allows a return about 3 days earlier; traditional liposuction keeps advantages for large volumes. See the comparison.

Is non-invasive lipolaser the same thing?

No. Laser-assisted lipolysis uses a fiber under the skin and fat removal; external non-invasive laser devices are a different technology with different results.

How long until results show?

The contour takes shape gradually as swelling subsides over the following weeks and months.

What are the risks of laser megalipolysis?

With larger volumes, the most frequent complication is seroma. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends a hospital and overnight monitoring above 5 liters. See who it is for.

Face

Endolifting and laser facial rejuvenation

What is facial endolifting?

A 1470 nm diode laser inserted under the skin to stimulate collagen and improve firmness in mild to moderate laxity. A review of 23 studies found favorable results with mild, temporary effects. See how it works.

Is endolifting good or bad?

It works for mild to moderate laxity but does not remove excess skin; for significant laxity a surgical facelift is the option. See endolifting or facelift.

How long does the endolifting effect last?

The result is gradual and its duration depends on skin type, age and aftercare; it is explained in the assessment.

Is fractional CO2 laser safe?

It is safe with parameters adjusted to each skin. In darker skin the main risk is pigmentation and ablative lasers carry more risk of scarring, so the skin is analyzed with VISIA before treatment.
